The only new character that A) fits and B) is likely, imo, is lloyd. Everyone else can go suck a d'ick, except maybe palutena because i know literally nothing about how she would function as a fighting game character. Pac man, mii, anyone else from kid icarus, anyone else from metroid...like what. We don't have a dual wield character, and lloyd is an amazing fighter with a lot of skills, so there's a lot of potential for him as a character plus he's fair game unlike banjo kazooie or other rare intellectual property.
More new challengers only means existing characters are going to get chopped due to previously confirmed roster size limits, and that's something i guarantee no one wants to happen. (except maybe a choice few...pokemon trainer...)
