An alloy is not a metal in particular. It's the result of fusing metals together (in most cases) as an heterogeneous mixture, but resulting in having the properties of a homogeneous one. An alloy is, for example, bronze, a mixture between iron and copper, that results in a metal that improves the qualities of both. Another example are amalgams, alloys made with mercury.
