Poetry's drawings and stuff

Hi and welcome to my sketchbook thread

Here you'll see me eventually transition from beginner to professional and maybe grow up along the way.

Inspired by the threads over at other art forums as well as Throes' thread ^^

I'll be cataloging preetty much all the major parts of my art-hobby thing (Journey sounds too pretentious) , well, the digital parts atleast, considering I never finish any traditional work properly and its 90% practice.

This'll also end up as a bit of a journal too with my own thoughts about what I do.

The thing that started it all:
Favourite and one of the very first things I ever did on a tablet. Couldn't stop thinking about it and ran home everyday for like two weeks just to slowly work on it. The moment I realized "hey I can do this!"

Became discouraged for 3 weeks~ish came back and decided to try paint that infamous limecat for fun. Rediscovered the same feeling I got for that first sketch and haven't looked back since.

Sneaky post on basil, got a friend to upload it due to my tendency to get banned. Promised for the person in the original thread with the xenon pic (above). This was also start of the 'big 3' as I think of them.

Anyway for 3 months I spent 1 month a pop on ONE drawing, under the delusion that
it would be a very fast way to improve, I'd later discover that this was bluntly termed 'turd polishing'

First time working from black and white -> color. Also the first thing I ever drew on my second tablet. I was under the impression it was the pomegranate and sort of overestimated myself and got dealt a bit of criticism, which I then took like a peach. The definitive moment I realized I was sh'it and had to do something, the second most important piece of garbage I have ever done.

After that I just, stopped working digitally for quite some time, ran right off and started practicing more and more fundamentals with just pencil and paper, then came back and tried to apply that with this (which I posted in another thread) :L

So it turns out pree much every single one of the images I posted exceeds 2mb. Oops. Also all the dates are really iffy because I don't remember when I actually drew these, and I've just looked at the earliest listed date in their respective file properties.

Either way here I am now, trying to come to terms with the part of me thats screaming for more practice and the other part that just wants to have fun, trying to strike a balance between the two. I still enjoy what I do but now its half fueled by ambition.

Looking back its only been a year and a half so I might just be over thinking things

Anyway enough with the small wall of text, if you read it all then thanks, if not here's what I'm working on currently:
