But... if 8 stars becomes the new norm, then 8 stars isn't that much of benefit anymore as it was before, right?
Making you relatively as strong/weak as you were before compared to others, cause everyone gets the same boost?

Actually it's different with Tyrants cause they still got a max of 15 stars. Making the max stars unfunded can get higher, while the funded still got the same max amount of stars they can get.

You are assuming that I am comparing my strength to others, which i'm not. I don't care if everyone gets stronger with me, that's a good thing.
8 stars is still a benefit to the player because it is more stats. I am definitely going to feel the benefits, and so will many other players who don't usually enhance their equipment.
