Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion
Hypermug Wrote:Who did you main out of curiosity? I main Peach and Yoshi who were buffed so I guess my perspective is a little different. I certainly hated Falco reverting back to his Melee form.

Personally, if I could just have back the interesting stages it would be a real winner.

I main Dedede, Toon Link and Marth for the most part, however I also had some in-depth usage of Wolf, Jigglypuff, Ice Climbers, and a couple others.

Dedede for the most part remained untouched, except his booster hammer was buffed, so I don't have too much of a problem with his changes, but the fact that he's still slow while a lot of others are SIGNIFICANTLY faster makes him massively nerfed by cause and effect.

Toon Link....they went out of their way to turn him back into Young Link, even giving him some MM/OoT crap, which Toon Link was never in, that was Young Link. His forward Smash is a mini-jump now, which is pretty annoying to use but I could get used to it. His Up+B is significantly faster and covers far less distance and his Mid-Air Down+A is significantly faster as well. Overall he feels far worse to handle and I hate it.

Marth and Ice Climbers I haven't touched enough to know for certain.

Jigglypuff was basically "Give sleep back" and that's about it from what I can tell. I can barely turn in the middle of the air (it takes like two jumps for Jigglypuff to turn around), but I can't remember if that's the game itself or a change from PM, and I haven't the time recently to reacquire all the characters in an un-modded game to find out.

Wolf's blaster is now disgustingly slow, I'm not sure what they were thinking. Outside of that he's not changed much either, but like Dedede that's actually a problem.

They clearly went out of their way to buff characters that needed it...but then didn't do anything about the ones that weren't in need of buffs, and it ended up being a nerf to them. I find it very hard to play any character that wasn't highly modified, because the ones that were are significantly better. That's probably why you have no issue with Yoshi at least, he definitely needed all the help he could get.

I also agree with the removal of all the stage gimmicks being stupid. Did they want Melee back, or a competitive 1v1 game? Melee was good as a 1v1 competitive game, but the stages still had their gimmicks. That's why competitions were always on Battlegrounds, Final Destination, or a small list of other maps that had no gimmicks. There was no reason to remove gimmicks from EVERY level. It's like they expect you to either not want it or be competitive. Can't have fun?

Dudewitbow Wrote:when i joined ship(moderately recently, during 2.6b) I personally didn't think they ruined half of the characters. At least on my half, they made some characters more fun because of the balances. in both melee and brawl, I was absolutely terrible with bowser for instance, PM bowser was a very enjoyable experience. Even some of the character changes are more accurate in the characters depiction then nintendo's default configuration in brawl. One for instance is DK's dash attack, where in melee and vBrawl, its a sidewards kick, compared to PM's roll, which is a throwback to DK's rolling attack from the DKC games.

this is coming from a guy who mained Marth/Doc in melee, who used ROB and Marth in vbrawl, I currently prefer using Mewtwo and Ivysaur, which is a pretty large difference

@above, you know its not mandatory to keep the PM stages right, you can remove the file and get vBrawl stages back, just dont expect the PMBR to design these stages because stage hazards potentially introduce alot of programming problems.

You mention two characters that NEEDED help in the first place. I'm not sure it was possible to make either Bowser nor DK worse.
