Season 4 Episode 6: Power Ponies
Spoiler
-Oh Spike and his comics. Every single boy's childhood.
-The Maniac, totally the Joker.
-Guessing now: Spike dreamed it all.
-I like Twilight's hat.
-Maybe not? Castle renovation time!
>Pinkie wall scrubbing with all 4 hoofs.
-Spike comparing himself to Humdrum.
-Rarity and tea and biscuits. Oh her.
-Read tiny print. IS A RYHME.
-Oh god the book is magic?! WHO PRINTS THESE THINGS.
-I sense classic 80s/90s cartoon
-So so far:
-Pinkie = Flash
-Applejack = Wonder Woman
-Rainbow Dash = Storm? Thor? Most likely Storm.
-Saddle Rager = Hulk
-Star Sapphire = Green Lantern
-Matterhorn = ???
-Maneiac os so punny
-Zap power backfire. Such a massive backfire.
-Pinkamena Neon sign
-LOUDLY DECLARE PRECENSE. No Dash, why would you do that?
-"My hair!" Is that Lee Tockar??? 99% sure it's Lee Tockar.
-Hairspray of Doom. Ew.
-Charge all in a group. Nothing can go wrong.
-That sudden bucket. It mocks Spike.
-lol using a timer to make sure when to re-spray. This villian knows what's up.
-Hairdryer of DOOOOOM. ONE MEEELLION TIMES.
-Everypony failing their spot checks.
-Loss by villain monologue confirmed.
-Wilhelm Scream confirmed.
-SLAP FIREFLY. FLUTTERSHY MAD.
-Flutterhulk is terrifying.
-Bought at the Canterlot House of Enchanted Comics. I bet every comic book nerd would want such a comic store.
-Magical comic disappears. Comic either got returned to store, or disappeared forever. I suppose it keeps comics from taking up unneeded clutter.
Overall:
-I liked the tribute to the superhero genre. One thing for sure that I can't deny was it gave no true progress to the overall arc that the season started with, although it can easily be implied the castle got entirely cleaned off-screen. Definitely more of a Spike episode, and I think I'll place it as one of the better Spike episodes for sure. Also Rarity continues to climb up to being best Pony when she so quickly learned how to use her powers. But then again, given she's a dress designer her imagination is way better than probably the entire Green Lantern Corps. Maniac is a good villain, amusingly savvy. But, I swear you gotta try very hard to not notice Spike walking around the whole floor setting up a trap. Also shouldn't the hairdryer have made Maneiac more powerful? I missed a little of the last bit.
Overall: 8.5/10. Not Hasbro's best work, but still a fun watch.
Possible memes: Flutterhulk. The bucket.
