And is it just me, or are the characters really slow compared to galaxy 1/2, even toad who is supposed to be the "speed" character?
The "build momentum" system is honestly kinda annoying. Not sure what other Mario games it has been in but I don't remember it being like this in Galaxy 1/2, or NSMBW. It makes running at full speed take FOREVER, and I think the only advantage Toad has is that his is faster, but don't quote me on that. If true, then that would explain why he doesn't feel all that fast. The Catsuit has increased speed though, maybe it makes everyone go the same speed which would explain it as well. Not completely sure since I played most of the game with Toad exclusively (I like his cat suit, it weirdly fits him, at least in my opinion).
I also hate how stopping for half a second can completely screw up critical jumps even if you go back into a run before you jump. Most of my deaths aren't from the map design or difficulty, but from the Momentum System killing me by forcing a terrible jump that wouldn't have happened in other Mario games.
The game got slightly harder as it went on, although for the most part the challenge is in finding some of the stamps, which are uniquely hidden in some situations. Although, that doesn't always happen either and sometimes the stamps are in the most ridiculous and easy to find places (sometimes as easy as being directly in your path with no puzzle to getting it).
Overall the game has some annoying parts, but it succeeds in what it's supposed to do - be fun. Can't say that for a lot releases sadly. I wish it was longer, and would have suggested a lower starting cost, but that's what console games cost now-a-days, so I can't really argue the $60 pricetag all that much.
