I'd say it is pretty unlikely, but not worth risking a main account over. There have been numerous inventory slot 'bugs/exploits' (whatever you wish to call them) which have been ignored in the past.
I bought a set of storage slots on my main account before realising this so I guess I'm f'ucked regardless won't be buying any more though.
