If you look at old Maple Story (and a lot of newer games), all you could do to enhance an item was one thing- scrolling. Back in the day, once you'd scrolled your weapon, hat, overall, shoes, gloves, and cape, you were pretty much done unless you were shooting for a better scrolling job.
The problem is obvious with this. One of the things people seem to enjoy, in this game as well as others, is to upgrade to new shiney toys. The potential system and the other more costly options makes it extremely unrealistic.
Ideally, a release of a new set of accessories or armor should be celebrated by the players.
As it is now, most of us see how much it would cost in real money to upgrade and sigh to ourselves, walking away.
When all we had was +7 scrolled weapons at the top, it would not be a monumental investment to switch it out, merely a question of how good we were at accumulating Mesos.
