Pokémon X and Y Playthrough Discussion

Man, I hate those restaurant battles. Protect shouldn't even be a legal move in these types of battles.

It's pretty much a giant middle finger from a braindead spiteful AI when it uses protect on every other turn with every single pokemon. "Doesn't matter if I can't win as long as you lose" mentality is so stupid.

Now, I could get Feint to bypass this rubbish but wouldn't the restaurant mechanics be incredibly stupid and one-dimensional if it revolves around a single move? Not to mention rotation battles can't even take full advantage of it.
