Need help picking computer parts or a new computer? Click here.
Yugidude Wrote:Not exactly getting a new machine, but this is a fairly similar question to the thread.
I have a 4 Year old Dell Studio 1555 (Laptop). I'm going to replace it in the next couple years, but I need something more short-term to speed it up. After talking with some friends, I decided I was going to get an SSD (Most likely a Samsung one). If I buy one now, replace my current HDD, when my machine dies/I get a new one, can I take out the SSD and plop it in the new comp, or is it more complicated?

yes you can. its like using an external drive(which really is a normal drive in a usb interface). just be sure if you change your hard drive and add a ssd, be sure that you have an operating system ready to install(or clone the drive over)
