Not sure if this is the appropriate board to ask this, but I figured it would work, so I apologize in advance if it's not.
So as some of you may or may not know, I have Spina Bifida, I won't go into great detail about what that is if you don't know, but let's just say my spinal cord didn't develop to do what it was supposed to do.
Now, onto what that has to do with laptops. Well, my current laptop is a crappy, 6-year-old, hand-me-down from my dad that weighs about 10-12 pounds, which is really starting to kill my back. I attend university only twice a week, but having to lug that thing around all day is just absolutely wrecking my spine. Which should go without saying that that is not good for someone who already has chronic back pain.
So I've saved up some cash and want to get a new laptop, but since I travel quite a bit and actually use my laptop a lot, and since I'm also a huge and very dedicated gamer (hence why I'm going for a Game Design and Development major), so it also has to have the specs to run games at good settings. But overall, the most important thing, is that I need to get something so much more lighter than what I have. To help relieve my back, I need something with no more than at least half the weight of my current laptop, so I'm looking for something 5 lbs. or less. Obviously this really narrows my choices, asking for something really lightweight but high specs. Note that cost isn't really that much of a problem, but I'd like to NOT go over $2000 if at all possible.
The one I was considering was the 14" Razer Blade, which has an overwhelming number of positive reviews, great specs, and only weighs about 4.5 lbs. which is pretty much perfect.
...But my mum's boyfriend, who is a computer enthusiast and fanatic thinks that it's not worth the price. So to sum things up: I'm just looking for some good alternative recommendations or some back-up about sticking with the Razer Blade.
