Why do we play Maplestory?

I used to play cause old internet friends played and my two sisters played it, but they've all quit and the game's direction of "Pay or get fucked", in a game with very little endgame in the first place, was the main culprit of why they all left, which ended up with me leaving as well.
In the end I locked my two main accounts with HotSpot and left it at that. If I ain't playing those accounts anymore, no one will.
