Postgame spoiler, though not really anything to do with the plot:
after defeating the elite four, your rival will trade you the first form of the starter that you are strong against. You can trade any pokemon, and the starter comes nicknamed. for example, if you started with Fennekin, you'd get Chespin, ect.
