If you are sharing a game, have you considered buying the download version instead?

By downloading the game to two different SD cards (which are dirt cheap, you can get a big enough one for less than $5), you could each have your own save files.

It's easy enough to do. Put the first SD card in, download the game from the eshop, turn the 3DS off, put the second SD card in, go to the eshop and download it again.

We also share a 3DS. It'd be a hassle to keep taking one out every time one of us wants to play. I've decided to get Tyrunt from the GTS while choosing the Sail fossil.
