Also your original post implied there was a population before the last update.
The thing about your observation is that while it is true it is only due to the content being torn apart by the community so you didn't need to figure anything out. Masteria had a lot of resistance to aging in it's design though. A proper revamp/expansion would be nice but i'm not expecting much.
