1) I 100%'d 3D land without ever turning the 3D on, so that point is moot.
2) It's a cost cutting measure and nothing more. 2D screens are much cheaper than an equivilant 3D screen at the same resolution. THAT is why nintendo are doing this. Oh, that, and virtually no-one likes 3d anyway and it was a mistake ever including it.
