Mario needs the extra BP and HP because those two stats are more important for him in the dream world than they are for luigi. Gear+ is the most overpowered boost once you start getting your hands on pow DX gloves/Scarfs.
Luigi: Pow+, HP+, Gear + , Gear+ , Iron Body.
Pow+ because Luigis star rocket bro attack is ridiculously overpowered against the final boss.
Jump/Hammerhead/Counter boosts aren't that great because they don't affect bros attacks.
By the time you reach the third rank up, you're probably not going to get that much of a boost out of the stat ups, even if you go for the third one.
Badge stocks not really worth it because the best badges take forever to charge anyway.
And you can really choose any of Iron body/Big Lucky/Casual bros/Quick healer for your last upgrade, I just liked the +25% defense more than the others.
