What about jigglypuff? Game and watch? Pichu? There have been characters before who weren't exactly wanted but does that really make them bad choices? It's like sakurai said, there are a lot of interesting things these characters can do that others cannot. You can't force an iconic character into a specific character model just because they're iconic and therefore need to be in the game. If smash is to be a truly balanced game it needs to incorporate things we haven't seen in smash before so that every character type can be competitively viable and to that end we should be open minded about characters and wait for more information.
