You can ignore the miss rate and go for the mobs anyway - I trained my Kanna and Luminous on mobs 20-30 levels higher, sucking up the 40-60% missrate to get better exp.

Jesters make doing that pointless, though, because you can deal much more damage to a level 70 mob.

I definitely miss the "train on mobs above your level" aspect Maple had back in the day - it's like a natural way of finding something that suits your character's strength and style. Mobs your own level are often easy 1hkos or 2hkos, whereas training on 4-5hkos is more fun and lets you actually use the combos of attacks some classes have. Optimising accuracy stat to let you train on higher level mobs is just part of getting good equipment...
