The whole idea of Link Skills is viewed from two positions. The players here (including myself most of the time) view Link Skill as a primary way to benefit the Main character. One character is the central focus and all other characters live to serve him. This is likely to be the only character you want to level past 200 and the links will help him do that.
The other point of view (and this is the one that I believe Nexon holds) is that Link skills are an account benefit that is meant to help your other characters and NOT your main. This means that they expect your main to be the one conferring the bonus, not receiving the bonus. A Link Skill is thus on par with something like the Next Legend medal. It is something your account is given as a reward for having a a main character reaching high levels. I think the shift to a 3rd level Link solidifies this attitude from Nexon.
I believe YennoX is arguing from the second viewpoint and the others are arguing from the first. I am more in line with the first point, personally, but I think that is pitting me up against Nexon. I don't really have an issue with 3rd level Links at all. I, personally, use Links as a means of helping train other link mules most of the time. Is this a disconnect between Nexon and the players? Perhaps. But, I still don't see any reason to get this upset about this particular thing.
EDIT: I want to add that if this attitude is what Nexon intends, then they probably need to give Link Skills to every job. Otherwise it becomes a disadvantage to main anything but a Link provider.
