Tails only unique trait (flying) is replaced by wisp powers for sonic. Same goes for knuckles (Spike Wisps let you climb walls, Frenzy wisps let you smash harder objects, drill wisps let you dig).
As for amy, why would you want to play as a character whose main attributes are moving slow and only being able to hit enemies in stupid round about ways?
At best each could be a sonic heroes type reskin of sonic, but that really wouldn't improve the game at all, and I'd rather not be forced to play the same stages 2-4 times just because they added another character when they could do the same more effectively with sonic+wisps.
