The armor would always be black, but main color coupons had a significant effect in that in changed the outline color of your Dragon Slash attack as well as color changes in other attacks. It would also change the shade of your wings to match the Dragon Slash outline color (a much darker shade) and something else minor (horns, I think?). You may have remembered the craze to get a true Black Main Color as well as the Black Sub Color. I would assume it'd still be the same now, and you're stuck being permanently black, but perhaps not true black.
