KMST 1.2.478 - Warrior and Mage Skill Changes
If they can have different effects for Sword vs BW for Paladin Expert, or even going back to when they had different Brandish animations for (1H and 2H?) and even Brave Slash had Sword vs Axe animations, then I don't see why they can't have separate effects for Shield vs Rosary. However, there has to be serious penalties for either side, if you want to choose to go 2H, then your defense should suffer, you're not using a shield, you shouldn't get the same defensive bonuses as someone who does, deal with it (that isn't to say you should get none, however, I would think a class called 'Paladin' would have some form of divine protection or however you'd like to explain it). If you're holding a shield, you shouldn't be as strong as someone who's willing to go all out without one. But just being defense vs power isn't enough, or rather, it's not a satisfactory exchange. Defense doesn't mean squat at many of the new bosses, so those seeking damage would always just go 2H. And, god forbid, though I'm sure it's already happened, when people can cap again, the extra damage from being 2H is kinda worthless. It's... hard to find a balance that would satisfy everyone, but seeing what they've done so far with RED, I have high hopes for the future.

Also, it kinda bothers me that I make slashing animations with ACB when the animation is clearly not a slash.
