Lances are heavier spears, mainly used for horseback, so they'd be no good.
Afaik, using a spear and a shield was a bad idea, due to the long range of spears if the enemy got close youd be unable to attack, youd either drop the spear and use a sword in such case, or start the fightnwith a sword in one hand and a spear in the other.
Jamesie Wrote:Pretty sure that's a function of how Paladins have evolved since their inception. Before all the skills that incentivized being 1h+shield, there were obviously more 2h users since 2h dealt more than 1h+shield (unless you had a great shield). Of course, in come the revamps and slowly the focus is 1h+shield. Nexon really can't say "lolPallies u use 1h+shield nao" because that would be unfair/rude/etc. to Pallies who have made 2h "their weapon." DrKs kind of show this as well in their RED revamp. It's clear that Nexon wants them to use spears. All (almost?) of their animations and description focus on spears. Nexon can't just all of a sudden restrict them to spears since people, like yourself, use Polearms on their DrKs. (Not to mention as it stands Polearms are superior to Spears on DrKs anyways, right?)And thats the issue, nexon made pallies more and more biased towards 1h as time went by, kind of how they were biased towards swords before bb.
Illogical as it might be, it's one of those few times that Nexon isn't fine with screwing people over.
Funnily, spear named skills bar gungnir are being used in a polearm fashion.
Spear pulling looks like a polearm and it sweeps rather than thrust
Piercing through is very speary
Lamancha swings a spear around in circles, i dont know much about weapon balance but a polearm with a blade on both ends would be better fit for that job, probably made a spear just because of the final strike
Dark impale is a polearm, no questions asked
I do like that all the designs mix the properties of both spears and polearms though. Because of that it doesnt bother me if nexon prefers speary designs. And yes, polearms are the superior option (just because they are a speed faster than spears, at very low funding though, a spear is better due to the extra attack.
