FBI surrounds house of Saudi student after sightings of him with pressure cooker pot

That student was clearly profiled and investigated because of his ethnicity, but I do not really blame the FBI for this considering what just happened in Boston. Seems to me that they did their job professionally and took steps to properly investigate the reports. While I find the reasoning behind reporting this kid walking down the street with a pressure cooker rather racist, I can see how it could also fall into that "rather safe than sorry" category. Obviously this is a pretty complicated situation.

Exactly. I don't think it's fair that he's investigated just for bringing about a pressure cooker but considering the incidents of racism that have ended up with innocent people being killed without any context such as the shooting of Sikh people after 9/11 when they were doing nothing even related to it, this was a good thing to me because the woman made a snap judgement about the student but a short questioning was all it took for him to be released.

These are not ideal scenarios for anyone, but in an ideal world people would not be doing selfish things such as setting up bombs when many others will take the fall for their despicable actions. This isn't racism, racism would mean that he'd be detained, beaten up, ostracised or being murdered despite the fact that he was completely unrelated to the bombings.
