5-year-old shoots his 2-year-old sister

The point Joe was trying to make is that in more situations than you'd think, the law-abiding citizen who owns a gun wouldn't be able to defend themselves either. Much like a two-year-old. If the 5-year-old had shot his mother, who undoubtedly knows how to handle guns, would she have been able to do anything about it?

Obviously, sarcasm works much better if you agree with its message, not so much if you don't.

I sort of agree with the premise, actually; they won't be able to stop them from shooting in most cases simply by having a gun of their own. I'm more of the mind that, if someone shoots me, I really, really want to shoot them back. Doesn't change the fact that I got shot, but at least I feel slightly better about it because the person that hurt me also has to suffer. Yes, I am a very petty person, and I don't have a better reason than that.
