5-year-old shoots his 2-year-old sister

That and who in their right mind gets a five year old kid his own gun. I'd understand a bit more if they did a lot of hunting but 5 is just too young.

Exactly, who in their right mind gives a gun to a five-year old? Given the cases I've read where people, adults got careless cleaning their guns and shot themselves in the foot* one would think that would be more than enough reason to not let kids have rifles that could kill and just settle for real toy guns instead since there's a mighty big difference between putting your kids in a bubble and setting up a situation where just one moment of your inattention could lead to tragedy.

People always say it's only one minute or one second but that amount of time is much more difficult to swallow if it means someone could go from being a lively child to a corpse and even moreso when that's their child.

*I do believe this person was drunk, but then again cleaning a loaded weapon while drunk is a near ticket to the hospital.
