Although it can be argued that repeating the same stages in the same fashion can become tedious and boring over time, the occasional participation in one of the games many party quests promoted socialization and collaboration between players. It created a fun diversion from the endless monotony of grinding, and tends to be a bit less stressful than bossing at times, especially for those who are not funded enough to take on said bosses. Their depreciation is one of the many causes of the "anti-social" nature that the game is currently experiencing, in my opinion. Why PQ when you can solo popular mobs such as Jesters alone? Why do anything other than follow the standard, linear chain of maps (The three mobs in the haunted house chimney/Possibly some CDs on the side --> MP3 --> LHC --> Stronghold) when you can just blast your way to 200 much more quickly by yourself?
In the old times, the quickest way to level up was through playing with others in the games many popular party quests. Not only did they offer an interesting diversion from grinding, they also handed out unique rewards that players within the level range of the quest actually cared about. Thats why I miss them. KPQ and LPQ were fun, unique content for the lower levels and a great way to meet new people, something that I personally feel a lack of these days.
