If tradeability is a big issue, then you should just not bother flaming your equips at all. You're missing out on, potentially, up to 50 main stat per equip (on Empress equips), less on lower leveled equips. I have half a dozen warriors on my account that I share a majority of my equips with, so I have no intention of using flames on my stuff.
Eventually, though, I'm just gonna hunt for and cube more stuff so I can have additional options and maintain tradeability forever, because additional options are important to me too.
