its just after 5 transfers, which definitely hurts people that use their gear across multiple characters.

Just after 5 transfers. Okay, let's look at this scenario:

I main a Phantom and I'm planning to transfer my gear temporarily to my DB and Xenon for a level 200 deck. There's possibly a Nova thief too and I can't discount Sengoku; I'd probably like the Sengoku thief seeing that I'm fond of the other two.

Phantom -> DB -> Xenon -> ? -> ? would be the ideal scenario and even then my Phantom is going to be stuck without his equips unless I transfer it directly back to him after I'm done, and that's not taking into account that I typically change flavours like a Phantom switches skills. I LIKE playing my Phantom so what probably happens is that I level up two and ditch the others as link skill/card mules; the same would apply for any other Archer/Magician/Warrior/Pirate set because I'm not spending any more on this crap just because Nexon advertises these things as the best thing since sliced and buttered bread*, I AM DONE.
