North Korea threatened specific bases in Japan and Guam

Even though the weather is unforgiving, you would think the vast tunnels in the mountainous area would be able to sustain the regime for years to come... so the whole thing might turn out to be another Iraq invasion.

Imo, this seems unlikely. I may be mistaken, but I doubt that North Korea's civilian population loves their current government enough to act in a prolonged insurgency once Pyongyang presumably falls. This situation with North Korea is pretty different than that of Iraq.
