i like how lots of people are speculating that Luffy is going to eat it and become fire-rubber man. While I could see that as a possibility, there would need to be an added explanation for why he can possess two fruits and survive. The only option i could see him actually eating it would be if he lost in the tourney to someone, then elastic stretch to bite the thing before the bad guy got it, since that would be something Luffy would do (because pineapple logic).
The best theory i can think of would be that He gets the fruit and saves it for someone who he considers "nakama" enough to carry on Ace's influence elsewhere. Or he just hides it somewhere and leaves it to be forgotten in time.
