You know if they implemented cubes you could buy with mesos (maybe 1m each), but the cube had the risk of downgrading the equip (epic -> rare) as well as upgrading, and each item had a meso cube limit (e.g. could only have 10 meso cubes applied per day), I think that would do the trick. (And of course they should be sold by an npc, an excellent meso sink.) And cash cubes would still sell just fine because all the psycho cubers who cube to legendary would never do it on 10 cubes a day (especially if the cube might downgrade their equip).
