The fact that they are seeing this new awesome technology and saying "how can we apply this to our phones" is what annoys me, it has far more practical applications than... applications.
The more obvious applications need to be pointed out for this technology to be given enough funding to be explored and developed. I agree that there are more amazing applications they could have spotlighted like the potential effects on the electric car market but still phones being limited by batteries and charge restrictions is something people have been trying to remedy for years so it's no surprise.
Plus the imagery of an iphone charging in 5 seconds is more relatable of an example than anything else.
