Surveys are fun =3
Spoiler
What class is your main character?
Battle Mage =] it's the funnest character to me, and because of that I was able to make it all the way to level 140 on it, making it my highest level character. I also felt like I was never disappointed with any of the Battle Mage updates, they were never really made weaker with them; they were always improved in some way, which also meant to me that they weren't over-powered when they were first released which was good to see.
Q1. Do you think the balance between classes in MapleStory is appropriate?
No, it is absolutely not.
Q2. For which level range should level up content be added?
I wanna answer ALL THE THINGS, but if I had to choose I'd just go with anything 100+ so...yeah.
EDIT: The big thing is, for most MMOs the end game is what you worry about. You get your character to 'max level' then start doing all the big things while you work on making your characters' armor better. In maple, they chose to give the game an unreasonably high max level cap, and as such it's always suffered with the "there's nothing to do now..." issue. I like to treat anything 4th job+ as this game's 'end game', and as such being able to level past that is just this game's way of tracking your 'end game' progress. Idk, regardless there needs to be more to do once you do finally hit 100+
Q3. I am satisfied with the current buying and selling system for items.
I don't really have much experience with buying and selling items, it was never much my thing. But I know for sure that I hate the FM market system - especially after playing other games like Vindi which just let you post items for sale with ease. I also dislike that you need to buy Owls just to quickly search up items that you're looking for...that seems really greedy to me. So I'll answer with...
No, I am absolutely not.
Q4. I am satisfied with the current item enchantment system (scrolls, potential, enhancement).
Eh, not really. Obviously potential's sucky cause it's so tough to work on getting an item with good potential unless you use NX, so I'm not a fan of how that all works. On the other hand, I never had too much issue with the idea of scrolling, I'm not much of a scroller cause I can't really afford to buy scrolls all the time, but I remember really enjoying scrolling my Maple set last time they had that Maple Memories shop with the armor set + scrolls. Enhancments are another toughy, I don't have much experience with em, but it always felt like it was just an extra way to accidentally destroy your item after doing all that work of scrolling it. I liked what I heard about that new "additional options" feature though, with Unlimited. I really liked the idea of fighting monsters over and over trying to get the armor you want with good extra stats, but I guess that doesn't count as enchanting since you have to find the item like that and I don't remember reading about a way to change those stats once you got em. So I'll answer with...
I'm not.
Q5. The story in MapleStory is fun and interesting.
Eh...not quite. I liked where they were going with the whole Black Mage story the release of the five heroes, and I remember being really psyched to play Resistance with the idea that they'd have a lot of Black Wings plot added into them. The problem I have is that pretty much the only time that they add to the story is when they release a new class and give them their quests to 30, and few quests on the way to 100. I'd love it if there were more story areas that would then link together with another story area later down the line. To be fair, my highest level character is only at 140, so I haven't really started on ToT or any of the "Future" areas, so it could change there. Even then, it would be sucky for the game not to develop an interesting story up until 140~160+ As such, I'll have to answer...
Somewhat.
Q6. The interface in MapleStory is familiar and convenient to use.
Yeah, I guess. I don't really have much else to say about that, I never really felt like anything specifically bothered me about it, and I there isn't any other game that comes to mind as having a 'better' interface. So I'll answer...
Yes it is.
Q7. Please write what your most interesting moment was in MapleStory.
The 'Big Bang' update and making my Battle Mage, for sure. I really interested in the idea of having a brand new area to go through, and just from looking at the map, it felt like I was going to be able to do all of my training up to 100 there instead of having to re-use the same places I've had to train in on every other character. That didn't quite happen as well as I had hoped...you still end up going to the same usual Mushy Castle at level 30, Kerning Square, etc etc up until 65ish when you have the option of coming back to Edelstein for Verne Mines, but it was still cool.
Q8. Please write what moment in MapleStory left you with dissatisfaction/inconvenience.
>.> LHC staying Party Play when it became a Theme Dungeon...
I quit because of that stupid decision...I know this is a KMS survey, and GMS made the really stupid choice of keeping in both, but I this was the first thing that came to my mind. I was very happy and excited to have the option at 110 to start working on the LHC theme dungeon with the chance of obtaining Von Leon armor <3 ...and that was crushed when I watched the live show they did showing that they didn't change it... It felt insulting seeing them have all of the drops they needed (which was like 200 per quest, or something dumb like that) pre-optained completely skipping over what felt to me like the biggest issue with keeping the Party Play intact. I've never trained in LHC on any character I've ever made, and when the update happened I tried my best to do the first quest, but I hated how it felt grinding on those monsters and barely progressing on the quest. I still have hopes or the day they realize their mistake and get rid of the Party Play there...
I think what really bugged me is that, to me Party Play was removed in places like LHC because of the addition of Monster Park, which I really enjoy. Their decision to keep LHC has also left Monster Park in the dust....sure people still do it every now and then, but I was certain that if LHC had lost it's Party Play, Monster Park would be as I had hoped it would be, giving people the option to either go to solo places, or Party Play in Monster Park.
Q9. Please write what should be updated in MapleStory?
I'd like it if they'd go back to places that people barely visit anymore and revamp them to be more 'Theme Dungeon'-like. I really like doing Theme Dungeons, even though I've gotten bored of repeating them on every character. It would just be nice if you knew you could go to places like El Nath at a certain level, do any quest you can there and leave with a prize equip item and medal to remember the place by as you progress in your adventure.
Q10. Please write something about MapleStory.
I don't know, I have mixed feelings about the game. On one side, I really like it's art style and the little story it has is wonderful to see. I also look forward to any update that adds something new to progression from 1-100+, and I'd like it if one day there were branches in the progression. I picture making a new class and deciding I should go train/quest in Ariant or Mu Lung and come out of either place with something cool to continue on with and some put together story to remember it by. Yeah those places have quests and story, but it it doesn't feel like a story-line to me, it just feels like bits of story spread out in a messy way at the moment. Another thing I'd like to say is that although I've been perfectly fine with the idea of new classes coming out, mainly because it also means some form of new story added to the game - I'd like if they took a break from that, and focused more heavily on just adding stuff to do for the existing classes. I'd love it if they take advice from a game like Mabinogi, and maybe instead of new classes all the time, they do something like Role-play quests, where they could add you into someone else's story, by letting you be someone else temporarily. But I that's just me wishful-thinking, I doubt they'd decide to do that when they know new classes mean new characters for people to spend money on =/
Man, this is my longest post on this site =3
