Standard firearms are impractical and obsolete tools for warfare. The destructive capabilities of the United States Armed Forces should neither be underestimated, nor challenged at this point; the notion of a rebellion is simply absurd.
With that being said, I feel that Rand Paul's thirteen hour filibuster was futile, to say the least. In many situations, drones are far more effective at removing threats than human soldiers in such a way that the mechanization of the military makes these procedures much more practical and cost-effective. The primary attribute I sense from this man--much like many of his fellow right-wing politicians--is fear. I commend him for his efforts, but I entirely disagree with his sentiments.
