"a white guy saying: i support blacks out of jail, but i don't consider me part of "black society"
But I think a lot of the not joining the support of the feminist from the male audience is they view it as a women's group who want equal rights. Even if they know its for equal rights. And you often hear the question "if they are for equal rights, why are they called feminist and not equalism( or any other non-bias name)?"
I don't fully understand your quote though. Since Nikka's example would say: "a white guy saying: i support blacks out of jail, so that makes me a part of 'black society'".
When It comes to social groups trying to make a change, I see 3 distent area's that define the group
1) The Goal
2) The method they choose to reach that goal
3) How people outside/not fully immersed, view the group.
Feminist take a hard hit because of the last one. This is my basis that their name causes some of the problems they have now.
