Asking the industry to make everything the same across gender will just terminate most of what makes games interesting. I do realize that is not what people really are asking for, but dragged out to the extreme that is where it ends up.
On a more humorous note; why would we want to enpower female game characters? Peach has been making that ugly fat little plumber go through the same ordeal over and over and over again for what, 30 years now? If that is not power I do not know what is.
