Try dragon nest. You can make money on the game even if you're dirt poor or super funded (obviously more if you're funded) but it's not like maple where it's impossible to farm money for most people. Also the difference a 50k nx player can do vs a 2mil nx player can do is not that huge. You can actually build yourself up to a funded point if you put in hard work for your character. All the important bosses require strategy and teamwork, not straight up funded DPS (although that does help a lot)
To go back on-topic, as part of that 1% group of maple (or used to be, temporarily I'm a little out of it until summer), I really hate the system. The gap is far too wide between a super funded person and anyone else. The super funded can solo new bosses and get even richer while other people just get further and further left behind. I don't know if there is any possible way to close that gap without royally screwing over a part of the community though. The best way in my opinion would be to somehow let players obtain NX items without NX e.g. the idea of occult cubes is nice but there's no real way to get enough of them to make any significant difference. Something where players could basically do something tedious and be rewarded with untradeable NX items like prot scrolls, safety scrolls, etc. That would allow people to actually have a chance to become funded while people with NX can take shortcuts.
