I do not expect to solo the high-end bosses as I know I have put in neither enough time nor enough cash to do it, nor do I expect to even do it with 3-4 other players with similar funding. What I do expect from a few hundred though is that we could at least take the toughest boss down if there were enough of us, say around twelve but that's already impossible even before Unlimited because you have cheap mechanics like constant heals ensuring your DPS must be of a certain amount to even stand a chance.
About half of the listed bosses you have there are complete jokes post-Unlimited and their drops are already useless. PB isn't really a hot shot compared to the difficulty of beating it if you don't have the right classes unless you're in MSEA where the chair sells for real money, and I don't think funded people even bother with the bosses you mention now except for some pocket money or for laughs.
I agree that beating the strongest boss isn't something everyone needs, but think about how it feels knowing you're skilled enough to lead expeditions without a single player dying, reading up everything about your class and absorbing the details, being able to explain the mechanics of the game and yet still being locked out of even defeating the third hardest boss or whatever rank Cygnus is now because you're not willing to spend thousands. Arguably most of the top players are also skilled at their classes but I can tell you that if this is the reality presented to every promising player a lot of people would rather quit and find a game where they'd need more effort but can be among the best.
For a measly sum of three months' pay, I could go from being a Phantom that assists in V2 kills to being a Phantom strong enough to solo Cygnus while scarcely improving on my actual skill but I don't do that precisely because that is too damned cheap of a move and I don't agree with it at all. I neither want to be a complete freeloader nor spend all of my job's pay on a single game but for the price of many other good games I'd damned well have to be able to party up with others and accomplish something.
i think you would really enjoy world of warcraft. you can do all those things you mentioned.
this is not a mean-spirited post, i used to play WoW. it is a fun game, try it if you haven't already.
