Those are more "side benefits" of the redo.
Ultimately the only reason IPv6 got done was the exhaustion of IPv4 address space.
It just used as an opportunity to "do it better" rather than just being a knee jerk sizing increase.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.
