In our case the disparity wouldn't be so big except we won't even have party play again until Tempest and we have virtually zero 2x events to help ease the cost of buying EXP cards. I can't really see our old players bothering to defend their titles less because I doubt they would care by now unless they actually still read the forums like FangBlade does since the cost to train efficiently at party play areas would be rather costly.
