After a significant amount of finger-pointing (more than was done before), the sheriff offers himself up. Just like Maping, his words bear some level of threat to them. "You will lose without me!" are his last words as Hank Little bites the dust.
A thorough search of the sheriff's office lasts a few hours but bears no vilifying proof. The sheriff was, indeed, trying to help the town. There don't seem to be any investigations of significance, so the verdict is that he was not able to do anything at night either.
After the sheriff's office, the garage is revisited and the trapdoor opened. In it, you discover that a family of mice have made the place their home. One scurries about, finds some cheese and retreats. You find the REJ key in their abode, as well as some empty pill bottles that can definitely be linked to Jacob Poole. Perhaps the mice simply carried things back and forth?
It is now well past dinner time and the remaining townspeople head to their homes. Perhaps there might be some more clues in the morning.
