Fairy Tail Thread (Spoilers)

I can think of two main reasons that Minerva attacked Kagura and not Erza first.

1) She is the only member of Mermaid heel left. (With the exception of Milliania, who she captured already). hence, she if she was the one to beat Kagura, she knows she'll get 5 points. For all Minerva (and us!) know, Erza may well not be Fairy tails team leader.

2) Erza appears to have still taken more damage. After her leg was crushed/trapped by the falling rocks, she seems to be easier to take without surprising her than Kagura would.

Using Kaguras own sword to gut her is a pretty big plantain move though. Ughhhhhhhhhh Minerva.

Given what Minerva said about how the king feasts it does seem to fit. Besides this, Minerva itself is another name for Athena who is the goddess of wisdom so she must have reasoned that Kagura not only gives her more points, but that she can get rid of Milliania easily if Kagura isn't the leader. As brutal and sadistic as Minerva is she's clearly in it more for winning, so why not kill two birds with one stone?

I do wonder though if this is the outcome that affects if Eclipse is unleashed or not. A lot seems to hinge on what Erza does not as she has really bad odds considering who the opponent is and her legs are crushed, plus I suspect the energy captured at the games is likely affected by the violence inflicted as well.
