I agree that i rather see you use Feed the beast than tekkit.
Anyway can't wait what you choose (I still urge you to try Smart moving
, i just can't play without that mod making moving around a thousand times easier)
Installing forge now its just as easy as if you where installing modloader, without actually using mod loader. Since a while ago Forge got its own modloader making that step unnecessary. Player API is just as easy, you just need to place the files in the Jar after the forge ones.

Smart Moving is iffey, because that requires PlayerAPI/Forge...and for me, that's a nightmare to install. I'm only good with Modloader ><
