I'm gonna go ahead and say that I did not appreciate the official Doctor Who tumblr liveblogging spoilers from the episode, because I didn't get to watch for a few hours after. I've never been that frustrated at tumblr spoilers before.
As for the actual episode, it was great.
[SPOILER=Spoilers, then again it's been pretty spoiled here]The references were a nice touch, but I like how this plot is already unraveling. I didn't expect Clara to actually die and keep living a la River Song, where you know her beginning and her end and find everything in the middle. This time you can account for the possibility that, in the timeline, the Doctor would run into Clara after the events of Asylum of the Daleks.
The plot of the episode was kind of meh, and I was able to watch it while running errands on Maple. The denouement with the little boy didn't seem thought-out enough. But that's just me. And the episode was still very enjoyable.
I mean come on, "a whole family crying on Christmas eve" just got really cheesy.
Loved the Jenny/Vastra/Strax dynamic although the Jenny/Vastra shipping was a bit too fanservicey for me.
