Very few novels stand out... I guess I'll toss some nonfiction I read in there.
1. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (and the whole series of connected books in both veins)
2. 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C Clarke.
3. 1984 by George Orwell
4. The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene (string theory)
...
Man, I really can't think of any others lol. There were a lot of *ok* books but nothing really stands out as a favorite.
