Perhaps they can look up what the IP address was when the banning occurred, and if it was from China or something they may unban you.
They most definitely track IPs of whoever logged into your account, so if it's a clear case of "logging in from one IP for a long period of time, stopped, then some logins from a totally different IP and no logins from the original IP" then it's probably not too much trouble for them. I'm sure they see this pretty often.
