Even if the story was made by the same guy, that wasn't the only problem with the game.
Honestly, with that crappy Metroid theme game in Nintendo Land, I don't think they care about Metroid anymore.
They probably don't. It's not like Other M was the first decline in sales for the series. Prime 2 sold less than prime 1. Prime 3 sold less than prime 2. Other M sold even less than that. Nintendo being nintendo, they'/re probably going to wait several years before making another Metroid game.
